How many appointments will I need?

The number of appointments depends on the therapist’s assessment. For ICBC claims/ cases patients usually attend once or twice a week. For private patients, the frequency depends on your condition. 

Do you have parking?

There is free parking space at the side of the building and underground. Underground parking is accessible by elevator.

 What bus can I take?

Our office is accessible by public transportation. Take:

  • Bus 106 from New Westminster or Edmonds skytrain stations
  • Bus 101 from Lougheed or 22nd St skytrain stations 

Do you direct bill for extended health benefits?

Yes, we direct bill the following insurance companies:

Does MSP cover physiotherapy?

If a patient qualifies for MSP supplementary benefits (depending on annual income), $23 will be covered by MSP and the rest will be paid out by the patient.  Please call office for further details. 

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

Seniors (aged 65 years and older), will need doctor’s referral. Other patients do not require a referral

How long will my appointment take?

The first appointment is usually:

  • Physiotherapy: 45 minutes
  • Acupuncture: 45 minutes
  • Massage Therapy: 30 minutes, 45 minutes or 1 hour

Do I need to bring anything? 

With the ongoing pandemic situation, patients are required to wear masks all the time during the therapy session.  ID cards are also requested for identity verification. 

Will you contact my doctor?

We will only contact your doctor if records are required. 

Who provides massage therapy?

All therapists are registered massage therapists. Currently, we only have male therapists and are seeking a female massage therapist. 

Does massage therapy hurt?

Whether or not you feel pain or discomfort during the therapy depends on your individual tolerance level and your condition.  Occasionally, patients can feel soreness after a massage. The therapist will explain the treatment and answer any concerns you may have.

Does MSP cover massage therapy?

Do I have to remove all my clothing for massage therapy?

This depends on the area that the massage therapist will be working on. Gowns are provided for your use. 

What do massage therapists do when they treat a patient?

The massage usually involves manual therapy.  Therapists may also teach stretching exercises. 

Where does the massage take place?

The massage session is done inside a private room. 

Is massage therapy safe for everyone? 

For seniors (aged 65 years and older), a doctor’s referral is required.  Massage is usually safe for patients with a generally healthy condition. If you have any concerns, talk to your doctor before booking your appointment.

Does acupuncture have any side effects?

It is possible that you may experience bruising or swelling on the treatment area. The therapist will explain the procedure and obtain your consent before proceeding.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles are fairly thin and most patients only experience mild sensation. However, it may depend on your tolerance to the sensation.  The therapist will explain the procedure, answer your concerns and obtain your consent before proceeding.

Is acupuncture covered by MSP?

Are the needles safe?

The needles are safe, sterile and fairly small. High standards of sanitation are maintained for your safety.

Does acupuncture work on any health problem? 

Acupuncture is most effective for body pains, joint pains and headache.  For seniors (aged 65 years and older), we will need doctor’s referral. 

Do you accept ICBC or WorkSafeBC / WCB patients? 

We accept patients with ICBC claims and bill directly to ICBC. We can accept patients with WCB claims but we cannot bill directly to WCB. We can issue a receipt and it can be submitted by the patient for reimbursement to WCB.

How quickly will I be seen?

We can book appointments right away. Appointment availability is generally good with no long waiting periods.

What is your late or cancellation policy?

Patients are requested to call a day beforehand or cancel the appointment online to avoid late cancellation fees. We strive to be reasonable with cancellations due to medical or family emergencies. 

What are the payment methods?

Our office accepts credit cards, debit card, and cash.  Due to the pandemic, exact cash is requested as of now to lessen exposure.
